What ads can I use on my proxy website?
I’ve seen this question asked all over, how do I make money on my proxified pages? It’s often also asked can so-and-so company be used on my proxified pages? (Just to be clear when I say proxified I mean the page that someone is browsing TO through your proxy website.) Well I’m here to clear up some of the confusion and let you know what you can and can’t run and what seems to be making a decent amount of money.
What ads do I run on the homepage of my proxy website or my proxified pages?
Google AdSense is very popular but risky to run on the homepage of proxy websites. The reason being is that many people who use a proy website browse from behind their school or work firewall and share a single or very few IP addresses. What makes it even worse is that at schools and even sometimes at work the computers are shared by people who browse the same proxy websites (this is also common at libraries too). Now you have say five different people per-day using the same computer and the same proxy site or one of many that the same person owns and runs adsense on. Well if two of those five people click two ads each and this happens over and over again from that same ip, computer(cache), etc then Google WILL eventually get suspicious and investigate your account for click fraud. Seeing how Google thinks there is on valid reason for a bunch of clicks from the same IP address they could (and have done to others) block/ban your account. So, if you are using AdSense on your proxy homepage be careful and be sure to keep logs to show to google.
YPN aka Yahoo Publisher Network is not even a choice to run on a proxy site, not even your homepage! Don’t do it or think about doing it or you will get banned.
AdBrite is another valid option and probably your safest option of ads to run on your proxy homepage OR your proxified pages. Yes, I said it I’ve had no problems running AdBrite on my homepage and proxified pages. I find it best to run network ads and then maybe you get lucky and someone buys a link on your site if your price is right. Don’t expect to make near as much with AdBrite as you would with YPN or AdSense it’s simply NOT going to happen. Look at AdBrite as a whole other thing, something you can run where you CAN NOT run a higher paying ad.
FastClick/ValueClick Media is a CPM and CPC banner based advertising network that works on the homepage and proxified pages of your proxy. You can run a banner, medium square, popunder, and invue on your homepage of your proxy site and then on your proxified pages you could run a banner, popunder and an invue. One thing to note about ValueClick media is that the rates for international visitors is normally extremely low. For example if you are earning $.3/CPM for banners for USA traffic it’s not uncommon for international ads to pay only $.03 to $.10 per thousand views. I suggest going through the advertisements and removing the totally insanely low paying ads but not all of them. You don’t want to remove every ad but the highest paying because you will start serving defaults and not making ANY money at all. Also check the ads for CPM or CPC sometimes you will earn more for CPC because they are INT and US and you may get a few clicks for every few thousand impressions and the payout is higher than even $.3CPM. I don’t suggest disabling CPC just because it’s CPC, do research and find out which ads are converting the best for you because they will also be paying the best. It’s not exactly easy to get into fastclick/valueclick media with a proxy site because they have quotas (like other ad networks) on how many of a certain type of site can be allowed in. You should apply find out why you were denied and if it was because they are “ful” of that type of site then apply again in a few months.
AdVersal is a VERY low paying company for USA and Canada and the international payout has become even worse. You can NOT rely on AdVersal advertising income to make enough to even cover the cost of running a dedicated server for a proxy website let alone a proxy network. Adversal is easy to get into, and they will let you place your ad on your homepage or your proxified pages. Use adversal as a last resort because you simply can’t rely on them to make you enough money.
Tribal Fusion & Casale Media are even harder to get into than ValueClick Media. I’ve personaly applied for both with my proxy websites and have been denied. They did not inform me as to the reasoning or if they simply don’t allow them. I can tell you from past expierences that Tribal Fusion pays VERY WELL, much more than ValueClick and casale media pays better than ValueClick but not as well as Tribal Fusion. If you can get into either of these networks and have decent traffic you will make a decent amount of money
